Do you ever get into bed to read… and when you are done reading you don’t want to get up and turn the lights out? I have! And I have found that having home automation lights has many benefits. There are many ways to utilize “smart lighting” these days. We often use Lutron smart home products on our projects which have very robust features and they are very simple to install on a construction project; however, many people are not comfortable wiring in new switches and such. Hue Philips lights are about as easy as changing a light bulb and can do some amazing things. For instance, you can turn lights off and on from your phone while you are away from home, set timers and routines (so the lights start to dim before your set bedtime) and they work well with Siri, Alexa, and Hey Google to adjust your lights.
The Hue light bulb has 16 million customizable color options. Light color plays a major role in a person’s sleep cycle. Blue light keeps you awake, so exposing yourself to blue light before bed will have a negative impact on your quality of sleep. With Hue Philips lights I set my lights to a red hue when it is getting close to bedtime. Switching to a natural red light can help your body wind down and accelerate your sleep cycle more naturally. I have noticed it helps me get to sleep faster.
Not only do these lights have unique features- they are also more efficient. One light bulb can have a lifespan that can last up to 15 years or 15,000 hours! The folks at Philips claim that these bulbs are more efficient than an incandescent bulb and use 80 percent less power.
After using Philips lights for a few months, I would highly recommend them not only because they are so convenient but also because of their efficiency. Brilliant~ Marie
