More Than Experience — A Legacy of Building in Spokane

In today’s world, “experience” often gets boiled down to numbers on a page. You’ll see phrases like "over ___ years of combined experience" tossed around by companies looking to establish trust. But real experience—earned over time, on the job site, through every season of the industry—isn’t something you can simply add up.

At Hanson Carlen, our story is different.

David Hanson has spent 50 years building in Spokane. That’s five decades of walking job sites, designing homes, managing projects, and solving real problems with care and creativity. He didn’t come to this industry later in life or as a second career—he grew up in it. This work runs through generations of Hansons, and that history is something we’re proud to carry forward every day.

David began in the trades as a teenager, working alongside his father and grandfather. He’s been designing and building in Spokane since 1975—long before design-build was a buzzword or “high-end custom” became a marketing term. Over the years, he's continued to evolve with the industry while staying true to the values that matter: quality, integrity, and craftsmanship.

When you work with us, you’re not just hiring a company. You’re partnering with a builder who’s been shaping Spokane’s neighborhoods for decades—someone who still shows up, pencil in hand, and genuinely cares about the details. Our team is small and intentional. We don’t outsource the heart of the work. We design it. We build it. We live it.

This isn’t “combined experience.” This is lived experience—earned, not estimated.

And it’s why we’re still here, three generations later, building homes that last.
